Electricians Mate, First Class Petty Officer Steven "Glenn" Daugherty, 35, who served 17 years in the United States Navy, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 20, 2022 while attending training school at the Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois.
Steven "Glenn" was born on March 5, 1986 to his parents Glenn C. and Evelyn E. Daugherty of Englewood, TN.
He was a 2004 graduate of McMinn Central High School and began his military career as an Electrician's Mate with the United States Navy in April 2005. He was proud to serve as a Navy recruiter in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, support the Navy in several overseas deployments and remained active duty until his death. He was in the process of transferring from MARMC at Norfolk Naval Station, VA to the USS George Washington in Newport News, VA.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carson and Margaret Daugherty; his maternal grandfather, Derrill Maxwell; and younger brother, John Daugherty.
Survivors include spouse Amanda Daugherty; children, Cristian Daugherty, Bayleigh Daugherty, Jonathan "JD" Daugherty, Edith "Edi" Daugherty, Bryson Davis-Reynolds and Charles & Emma Wegrecki; his parents, Glenn and Evelyn Daugherty; two sisters, Angie (Terry) Chandler and Jennifer (Amanda) Rogers; brother, Aaron (Brittany) Daugherty; maternal grandmother, Edy Maxwell; nieces and nephews, Lauren & Carson Black, Miami Chandler, Braden & Leah Daugherty; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Steven "Glenn" was a dedicated family man first and foremost. He was the epitome of a true man who greatly adored his wife and children. He lived a simple life and was a true country boy at heart. He enjoyed wood working, the outdoors and loved to fish, but most of his free time was spent at home with his family making memories. He had a vivacious personality, never met a stranger, gave the best bear hugs and always kept everyone around him laughing by his quick wit and sense of humor. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Funeral service honoring the life of Steven "Glenn" Daugherty will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2022 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Minister Jeff Archey officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Liberty Hill Cemetery which will be conducted by the United States Navy with full military honors.
