Susie Ellen Thomas, 85, of Etowah, TN, passed away July 23, 2022, with her husband James of 66 years by her side.

Susie was often referred to as Momma Ellen by family and within the community. Ellen graduated from Etowah High School in 1955 and was the daughter of Mary and Spide Culberson of Etowah and the last surviving sibling of her family.

Ellen is survived by two children: Debbie Allen of Greeneville, TN and Randy Thomas of Atlanta, GA and a special nephew Jeremy Hamm of Murfreesboro, TN. She is also survived by a granddaughter: Jennifer Moreno and great-granddaughter: Addy Barnes.

Momma Ellen was known for quilting; often giving baby and graduation quilts to family members and friends. A Girl Scout leader for many years; active with both her daughter and granddaughter's troop.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.

Family and friends will assemble at McMinn Memory Gardens, Wednesday, July 27 for a private graveside service.
