Sylvia Jean Breedlove, 71, of Etowah, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at NHC Health Care of Athens. A native and lifelong resident of Etowah, she was a member of Mars Hill United Methodist Church. She retired after serving 25 years at Bowater Employees Credit Union. A daughter of the late Andrew and Katherine Cook, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Charles "Chuck" Breedlove. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Darin Edwards of Athens; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Joe Ward of Athens, and Teresa and Dave Proctor of Birmingham, Ala.; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Hoyt Watson of Etowah; grandchildren, Dillan Edwards, Jacey Edwards and Haley Ward, all of Athens, and Luke Proctor, Jake Proctor and Shelly Proctor, all of Birmingham, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mars Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Hamilton and the Rev. Richard Tallent officiating. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dillan Edwards, Joe Ward, Wayne Solsbee, Johnny Solsbee, Ricky Watson and Roger Watson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.
