Teresa J. "Judy" Culberson Breeden, 60, a life-long resident of Englewood, TN went to rest in the arms of Jesus after battling cancer on Sunday, April 2, 2017.
She was a life-long member of Mars Hill United Methodist Church in Englewood where she served as the church treasurer for the past 21 years. She graduated from McMinn Central High School in 1974 and began working at Beaunit and later worked at Athens Supply Company. She was a stay-at-home mother when her children were younger. When her children began attending Englewood Elementary School, she served as a parent volunteer, Girl Scout Leader, assistant Cub Scout Den Leader, and substitute teacher for many years. Then she became the music teacher at Englewood, and later the secretary at the school. Judy loved her Savior, family, friends, church, and school.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Marcella Kelley Culberson; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred O. Breeden, Sr. and Pearl Mayes Breeden; her maternal grandparents Henry and Onnie Kelley; her paternal grandparents Joe and Effie Culberson; her uncles Eugene Kelley, Bill Culberson, Kenneth Culberson, Kenneth Vaughn, and C.E. Haun; her aunt, Ventola Culberson Haun; her brothers-in-law, Albert Calfee, T.C. Burris; and her sister-in-law, Diana Breeden Swafford.
Judy is survived by her husband of 36 years, Fred O. Breeden, Jr. of Englewood; her father and step-mother, Curtis and Mildred Culberson of Englewood; one daughter and son-in-law, Josh and Tina Bailey of Englewood; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Jason and Heather Breeden of Englewood, and Craig and Amber Breeden of Englewood; four precious grandchildren, Clint Bailey, Cadence Breeden, Macie Breeden, and Levi Breeden all of Englewood; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Kizzie Calfee of Calhoun; Doyle and Brenda Breeden of Cleveland; and Harry Swafford of Athens; her aunts and uncles, Imogene Kelley of Englewood; Zilpha and Bill Coleman of Athens; Grace Malone of Niota; and Eddie Baxter of Englewood; and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Gayle Crabtree and Pastor Robert E. Hamilton officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 2:30, Friday, April 7, 2017 and proceed to Mars Hill Cemetery for the 3:30 p.m. committal service.
Marvin Kelley, Grant Kelley, Michael Calfee, Tyrone Calfee, Tirrell Swafford and Troy Swafford will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Joe Swafford, Doug Swafford, Jeff Breeden, Shawn Calfee and Chris Calfee.
