Thelma Jean Mankin went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. A resident of Englewood, TN since 2013 and a member of First Baptist Church, Englewood. Her greatest joy in life was to help others, whether it was a neighbor or her family. She loved managing the Whistle Stop or her antique store in Etowah, because she was able to share her love of the area with those who crossed her path. Her honesty and wit will be greatly missed.
As an eleven year old living at the Mills Baptist Children's Home in North Carolina, she became a blessing to the foster family who was with her until the end of her life. She made contact with her birth brothers and sisters in the latter years of her life.
She is preceded in death by three brothers, Terry, Phillp and Michael Mankin; and her forever parents, John and Helen Tullock.
She leaves behind her son, Donald Ray Martin of Ashland City, TN; sisters and brother-in-law, June Wright of NC, Sandra Taylor of VA, Beth and Gene Sizemore of Englewood, TN; brothers and sister-in-law, David Mankin of TX, Laurens and Polly Ailor Tullock of Knoxville, TN; various nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Englewood with Rev. Ed Earl and Pastor Russ Maples officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
