Dr. Thomas W. Williams, 91, of Etowah, TN went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 1, 2020. He was born in Kansas City, MO to the late Walter and Henrietta Williams. He was a practicing board certified physician for over 40 years.
He graduated from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, MO; he obtained the rank of Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy as a physician.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Etowah and a member of the Etowah Rotary Club. He was chief of staff at Woods Memorial Hospital and medical director at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home. During his time as practicing physician he received Rural Health Practitioner of the Year. He was a devoted civic leader in the Etowah community.
Dr. Williams was an accomplished jazz musician; he enjoyed model railroading and wood working.
Preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Bib" Williams; son, Stephen Williams; sister, Susanne Williams Clark.
Survivors include his children, Thomas W. Williams, Jr. (Dawn), Murray Williams (Carmen), Alison Coulson (Richard); grandchildren, Blake Williams, Dylan Williams, Mary Lynn Coulson (David Tremaine), Harper Coulson (Rebecca); great-grandson, George Tremaine.
Due to Covid-19, the family has requested that there be a private graveside service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
