T.J. Carroll, 95, of Etowah, TN, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 4, 2021.
Born November 5, 1926 to Virgil and Clemmie Carroll. He was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church. He served his country in WWII in the US Navy's Pacific Fleet aboard the destroyer escort U.S.S. Ray K. Edwards.
T.J. was a master carpenter and cabinet maker, well known for his unmatched craftsmanship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Clemmie Carroll; daughter, Dianne Akins; grandson, Travis Carroll; sisters, Juanita Steele, Stellita Stewart; brothers, Gary and Ronnie Carroll; previous wife and mother of his children, Eva Sue Carroll.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Don Newman, Susan and Chris Hensley; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Gail Carroll, Tim and Kay Carroll, Greg and Janice Carroll; 14 grandchildren, Keith Akins, Joey Akins, Amy Williams, Brad Newman, Wes Newman, Wade Newman, Byron Carroll, Tyson Carroll, Eric Carroll, Caspar Carroll, Kelly Carroll, Allison Lee, David Hensley and Matt Hensley; 30 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Burna Dene and Billy Clark; brother, David Carroll ; several special nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Violet Stokes and Raul Watson.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2021 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Mark Hensley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday prior to the service.
Interment will follow the service in Mars Hill Cemetery.
Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Brock Raper, Luke Hensley, Brady Hensley, Peyton Carroll, Zack Akins and Alex Akins.
