Tony K. Dunn, 97 of Etowah, TN passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Athens Place Assisted Living.
He was a son of the late Lake and Martha Dunn of Etowah.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn Blair Dunn and his second wife, LaVerne Webb Johnson Dunn; son-in-law, Wayne Martin; grandson, Ashley Wilson Martin.
Tony was a 1941 graduate of Etowah High School. He served in WWII as a Sergeant with the Army/Air Force as an electrician. He was in the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton; he later served in the Korean Conflict in Roswell, New Mexico. After his Military Service he returned home where he joined the American Legion Post # 11 in Etowah. He worked at Dupont in Chattanooga and then retired from Bowater's in Calhoun as an electrician. He was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Etowah and while living in Athens he attended East Athens Baptist Church.
Tony always loved fishing, camping and gardening; he loved to have fish fries for friends and family along with home grown vegetables. Tony delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and retired at the age of 89.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Eddy Woody of Athens and children, Tony and Christy Martin of Knoxville, Krissy and Patrick Davis of Etowah, Jill and Kevin Kosier of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Mike Butler of Ringgold, GA and children, Justin and Melissa Butler, Clay and Jessica Butler and Katie and Brian Charlesworth; 12 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Athens Place, the nurses and staff at Hospice of Chattanooga and caretakers of Family and Faith.
Graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Green Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Wayne Hickman officiating. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to be given to the Etowah Food Pantry, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 306, Etowah, TN 37331.
