Troy Ray Sisson, 89 of Athens, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 surrounded by his family at NHC Health Care of Athens.

Troy was born in McMinn Co., raised in Etowah and graduated from Etowah High School in 1954.

Preceded in death by his loving wife, Frieda Sisson; parents, Jess and Vesta Sisson; Three brothers, Jess Jr., Tommy and Richard Sisson; two sisters, Elsie Strickland and Linda Ervin, step-son, Kenny Parson.

Troy spent his career working as a pipefitter for Bowater Paper Mill for 41 years and 11 months before he retired.

Troy will be dearly missed by his children, Valerie (David) Moore of Etowah, Cindy Bivens of Cleveland, Wade (Paula) Sisson of Lenior City. He was very blessed to have eight grandchildren, David, Jr. (Nikki) Moore, Josh (Amber) Moore all of Etowah, Jason (Kelly) Moore of Niota, Courtney (Wendell) Marlar of Cleveland, Chris Sisson of South Carolina, Dakota Sisson of Cleveland, Richard Sisson of Lenior City and Jessica Sisson of Athens; sister, Creeda Harris of Chickamauga, GA;  19 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also blessed to have wonderful friends, Roy Trew, Tommy Collins, Ronnie Pirkle and Norman Anderson.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pat Ervin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble at Green Hill Cemetery, Saturday, June 17th for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
