Vance "Redworm" Saffels, 90, of Englewood, TN passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at his residence. He was a native of Sand Mountain, Alabama and a resident of Englewood most of his life and was a son of the late Edgemond and Minnie McConkey Saffels. He retired from Bowater with 37 years of employment and a member of Dixon Ave. Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Ervin Saffels; his parents; and all of his brothers and sisters. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Harris of Etowah, TN, Barbara and James Cook ofEnglewood, TN, Patsy and Nathan Webb of Englewood, TN, Catherine Lee of Acworth, GA, Tena and Michael Elkins of Athens, TN and Cheryl Gonzalezof Englewood, TN; 13 grandkids; 2 step-grandkids; 27 great-grandkids; 10 step-great-grandkids; 18 great-great-grandkids; and 3 step-great-great-grandkids. Redworm will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2015 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Webb officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the funeral home and proceed to Eleazar Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service. Scotty Hamby, Tracy Cook, Stacy Cook, Bobby Cook, Chris Cook, and Mickey Harris will serve as pallbearers.Toby Hamby, Philip Webb and Ben Elkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
