Vesta Marie Armstrong, 81, of Englewood, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at her residence. A native of Meigs County, and a resident of McMinn County for most of her life, she was a member of Dixon Avenue Baptist Church and was a daughter of the late John and Alice West. She was preceded in death by her husband, William George Armstrong; three brothers, Ed West, Ogle West and Bob West. She was a housewife and a loving mother and wife. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Armstrong of Englewood; one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Wilma Armstrong of Englewood; grandchildren, Brandon Armstrong and his special friend, Brittanye Burris, and Amanda Woody and her husband, Justin; two great-grandchildren, Paisley and Brayden Woody; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Willis and Mary West of Sweetwater, and Wesley and Brenda West of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Mars Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Watson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday in the North Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.
