Viola "Vodie" Belk, 82, of Etowah, died Sunday morning, June 16, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her loving children. A native of Meigs County, she lived in McMinn County for 71 years. She worked as a seamstress for many years and retired from East Tennessee Livestock Center in Sweetwater. She was a member of Cambria Baptist Church in Delano. A daughter of the late Edd and Alice Cooley Huff, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John D. "Dave" Belk; two sisters, Reba and Lucy Huff; and one son-in-law, Bobby Owens. Survivors include four children and three spouses, Mary and Bobby Martin, Janet Owens, Dale and Delores Belk and Kay and Malcom Dalton, all of Etowah; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Anna Belk of Chattanooga, Duane and Season Owens of Cleveland, Lisa and Mike Standridge of Athens, David Owens and Stephanie Heisley, Scott Owens, and Dana and Josh Haire, all of Etowah; 11 great-grandchildren, Davey Owens, Haley Martin, Matthew Owens, Elizabeth Owens, Brayden Owens, Jacob Haire, Josiah Haire, Addy Owens, Alex Owens, Andy Owens and Giovanni Belk; one sister-in-law, Dorthy Belk; two brothers-in-law, Ed Belk and Dan Belk; special cousins, Margie Huff and Billie Hall; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to say a special thanks to Woods Home Health and Amedisys Hospice Care, especially Sallie Cate and Lenore Blassingame, for exceptionally great care. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Minister Pat Wilson and Dr. Samuel Olsen officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at noon Thursday and will proceed to Conasauga Cemetery for the 1 p.m. burial. Pallbearers will be David Owens, Jeremy Belk, Duane Owens, Scott Owens, Mike Standridge and Josh Haire. Honorary pallbearers will be Davey Owens, Matthew Owens and Jerry Hale. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
