Rev. Walter Paul Bikacsan, 90, of Etowah, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah, TN. A native of Akron, OH and a resident of Etowah for the past 26 years, he was a son of the late Flore and Bertha File Bikacsan. He was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church, and was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He held a ThB degree from Cleveland Bible College, Cleveland, TN and served as pastor in the American Baptist Convention in OH, PA and N.J. He was preceded in death by his parents, listed above.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gizella Taylor Bikacsan of Etowah; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Pastor William Halter of De Graff, OH.; two sons Dennis M. Bikacsan of Etowah, TN and Ronald W. Bikacsan of Nashville, TN; and one sister and brother-in-law; Violet and Ernest Lehoczky of West Bloomfield, MI.

Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at North Etowah Baptist Church with Pastor William Halter officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Funeral service will be held in Akron, OH at Eckard-Baldwin Funeral Home on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 prior to the service. Interment to follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Peninsula, OH. Family suggests memorials to be made to North Etowah Missions Programs or the charity of their choice.
