Walter Blankenship, age 69 of Etowah, TN, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Edith Blankenship. Walter was a member of the Baptist faith and served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include wife, Janie Blankenship of Etowah, TN; son and daughter-in-law, James and April Blankenship of Etowah, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Johnny Henderson of Hartsville, AL; step sons and daughter-in-law, Craig and Renee Hicks of Decatur, TN, Johnny Hicks of Etowah, TN, and David Hicks of Etowah, TN; step daughters and sons-in-laws, Lena and Pat Morris of Riceville, TN and Kim and Mike Loviolette of Etowah, TN; brothers and sister-in-laws, Jimmy and Linda Blankenship of Atlanta, GA, Richard and Jane Blankenship of Ten Mile, TN, Carroll and Marie Blankenship of Etowah, TN, and Eddie and Denise Blankenship of Athens, TN; sister, Joyce Casteel and Pattie Smith; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Blankenship officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:0 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Family and friends will meet at Green Hill Cemetery Wednesday, September 13, 2017 for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.
