In addition to his work as an electrician, he also raised beef cattle and was awarded McMinn County Farmer of the Year in 2001. He enjoyed working, serving others, singing gospel music, eating homemade ice cream, doing anything that involved his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren, and he loved telling a good story.
He served his church, Calvary Baptist, as a member, Sunday school teacher, deacon, choir member, and doer of whatever needed doing for over seventy years.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Randy Brock, Carol Green and Bob Watts; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Peggy Green, all of Etowah, and David and Katie Green of Hudson Oaks, Texas; grandchildren, Alan Brock, Kathryn Stamey, Douglas Watts, Nathan Watts, Scottie Green, Misty Prock, Heather Massingill, Jason Murphy, Garrett Green, and Landon Green; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
