Wanda Jean McKinney, age 85, of Athens passed away peacefully on Oct 27th at her residence with family by her side. The daughter of Lloyd and Mayme McKinney, she was born and raised in McMinn County spending most of her life in the Liberty Hill Community. Wanda was retired from Johnson Controls.

She is a faithful member of Central church of Christ. She enjoyed sending cards, gardening, cooking and vacations with family. She especially enjoyed feeding her family on special occasions and was always faithful in visiting her friends and others at the nursing homes.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Dan McKinney, three nephews that she helped to raise; Jacky, Rusty and Ricky McKinney.

She is survived by three sisters, Virginia Webb (Ray) of Englewood, Tommie Brown of Englewood, and Margaret Lovingood (Andrew) of Athens; two nephews that she helped raise, Mike McKinney (Lisa) of Englewood and Danny McKinney (Rae Jean) of Las Cruzes New Mexico. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews and longtime family and friends. A special nephew Scott Lovingood who stayed and cared for her enabling her to remain at home. She also developed a special fondness for a little dog named Buckey who brought many smiles to her face during difficult times.

Per her request there will be no formal visitation. She did request a gathering at her home to "Feed the family and friends one more time". This will be held Monday Oct 30 from 4-7 PM. All family and friends are invited to attend.
