William “Bill” Ray Goodman, 75, went to his eternal home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2025. He passed away at his home in Daytona Beach, FL.
Originally from Etowah, TN, Bill was a University of Tennessee alumnus with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Just after graduation he was recruited into the US Navy and served as a Naval Aviator in the Vietnam War. He had an impressive 50-year career in construction and engineering in both the private and public sectors. He traveled extensively throughout the US and internationally for military service, work, and pleasure. Bill retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs in October of 2020 at 70 years of age.
On July 26, 1985, Bill married Elizabeth “Becky” Farrington at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain, MI. Together they shared 40 years of love, faith and family.
He had numerous hobbies and interests throughout his life including painting, ballroom dancing, attending military air shows, baking, cooking, golfing, and photography. He was passionate about sharing his gifts with others. Bill volunteered as a H.S. Youth Minister at his church in Montgomery, AL, he joined the Knights of Columbus in Rome, GA and continued serving in Madison, WI and Washington, DC. He also volunteered at the Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, VA. Bill was described by friends and family as giving, loving, thoughtful, a great man, funny, smart and extremely loved.
He is survived by his best friend and devoted wife, Elizabeth “Becky” Goodman, and his children: Jessica Farrington and Katherine “Kat” Goodman, his siblings, Timothy (Cheryl) Goodman, Paula Cox and Thomas Goodman, In-laws, Denise Christensen, Michael (Linda) Farrington, Mary (Chris) Ninomiya, James Farrington Jr. and many nieces and nephews and their children.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Goodman and Grace (Leslie) Goodman; in-laws, James Farrington and Elisa (DeFiore) Farrington; sister-in-law, Peggy Goodman; brothers-in-law, Greg Christensen and Steve Cox, in addition to other extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm, Saturday, May 30th, 2026 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.
