Obituary

William "Bill" McKinney, 93, of Etowah, TN, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Bill retired from Bowater Paper Mill in Calhoun TN, after 40 years of dedicated service. His work ethic was a testament to his character, and he took pride in every aspect of his career.

Bill was not only dedicated to his profession but also to his family and faith. He was a loving husband to Mary McKinney, with whom he shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised two daughters, Cynthia and Patricia McKinney, who cherished their father deeply. Bill’s family often described him as the most kind, thoughtful, generous, and loving husband and father anyone could be blessed with.

A man of deep faith, Bill loved the Lord and was an active member of Carlock Fellowship Church, where he demonstrated his commitment to his community and spirituality.

In addition to his devotion to family and faith, Bill had a passion for hobbies that included antique cars, farming, tractors, and machinery. He took great joy in restoring vintage 29 A Models, demonstrating both his meticulous nature and love for craftsmanship. Bill was also a proud member of the Schriner organization in Chattanooga, TN, where he served for many years.

Bill's commitment to community service was evident in his long-standing involvement with the Etowah Lodge # 653, where he was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on September 28, 1961. Over the decades, he devoted more than 60 years to helping others through this organization.

Surviving Bill are his loving wife, Mary, and their daughters, Cynthia and Patricia. Bill will truly be missed by his family and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Elizabeth McKinney, and his brother, Melvin McKinney.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
