William Donald "Crash" Riden, 73, of Knoxville, died Saturday morning, June 19, 2010 at his residence. A native of Athens, and a Knoxville resident for the past 40 years, he was a son of the late Rev. William and Grace Riden. He was known and remembered for his wrestling, paint and body shop and later in sales. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Walter Riden, Jr.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Patrick Howard, Cynthia and Tommy Buchanan, Patricia and Travis Propst and Donna and Michael Watson; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald Paul and Shanine Riden; two brothers and sisters-in-law, M. David and Perry Riden and James Wesley and Pat Riden; nine grandchildren, Amanda Elmore, Daniel Howard, Ben Buchanan, Brook Buchanan, Chris Propst, Aaron Propst, Taylor Riden, Trey Watson and Gracie Watson; four great-grandchildren, Tyson and Lincoln Elmore, and Madison and Mason Propst; companion of many years, Betty Scarbrough, and her granddaughter Amber and family; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, located at the intersection of Co. Rd. 775 and Co. Rd. 778 in Athens, with the Rev. Scott Wilks officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Jones Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
