William Sterling Daugherty, 86, of Etowah, TN, passed away, Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Athens Regional Medical Center.A native of Monroe County, and a resident of McMinn County for most of his life, he was a son of the late William Benjamin and Ida Daugherty. He was a member of Etowah Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his parents, listed above; and four brothers, Ora Lee, Zelmer W., James Larson, and Walter A. Daugherty. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Gail D. and Rickie Hester of Riceville, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Joel W. and Janie Daugherty of Lawrenceburg, TN; brother, John Carson Daugherty of Englewood, TN; sister, Edna Mae Ammons of Englewood, TN; grandchildren and spouses, Lisa Hester and Mark Erwin, Stephanie Daugherty Goddard and Andy, Ben William and Kristen Daugherty and Casey J. Daugherty; step-grandchildren, Ashley and Katie Green; great grandchildren, William James Elliot Daugherty, Malea Rae Daugherty, Marshall Anderson Daugherty, and Chloe Finnell Goddard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2012 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Minister Will Arnold and Mister Pat Wilson officiating. Interment to follow at Liberty Hill Church of Christ Cemetery. Ben W. Daugherty, Dale Ammons, Ben Ammons, Michael Raby, Jason Bryson and Tommy Haney will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the funeral home.
