William Neal "Bill" Harper 57, of Newport News, VA formally of Etowah, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Tuesday morning, January 2nd, 2020. He passed away in his sleep at Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News, Virginia with Bobby and Brenda by his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eleanor Harper.

Bill is survived by his son, Grant Harper of Memphis, TN; and his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Brenda Harper of Gatlinburg, TN.

He was a designer for Gibbs and Cox Maritime Solutions based in Newport News, VA and Strom International. He held an Associate's Degree from Cleveland State Community College and a Bachelor's Degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College.

Bill was well Known for his ability to play the guitar and performed with several local bands through the years. He loved the ocean and would often travel the Caribbean on vacations. He loved to play golf and go fishing, especially with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Bryan officiating.
