William Scott "Scotty" Murphy, 57, of Etowah, TN, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012, at his residence. A native of McMinn County and lifelong resident of Etowah, preceded in death by his parents, David and Billie Jo Murphy. He was employed as a Engineer with CSX Railroad, a member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. A Veteran of the US Navy and member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include, his wife, Mary Jane Murphy of Etowah, TN; two sons, Cody Murphy of Savannah, GA and Michael Murphy of Alcoa, TN; one daughter Andrea Murphy of Etowah; Brother, Roger Murphy of Friendsville, TN; Several nieces and nephews. Scotty was a devoted husband and father. He loved working on the Railroad,his favorite thing to do other than driving his tractor was swimming at the Hiwassee River. He could be spotted as early as April taking a dip. He loved living on his small farm and making his annual garden. He had a love for animals, especially his border collie, Sophie. He passed on his sense of humor to his three kids, so this made for some crazy times at the Murphy household. He was very proud of his three children and their accomplishments.Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012 in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 6th in the South Chapel. Interment to follow service to New Zion Cemetery. Charlie Satterfield, Dr. David Brown, Tyson Murphy, Wesley Murphy, Charlie Wilson and Tom Block will serve as Pallbearers.
