A native of Hamilton County, he was a son of the late John and Josie Bettis Thomas. He was retired from Combustion Engineering, and was preceded in death by a son, Calvin Thomas; three brothers, Bea, Clifford and Junior Thomas; and two sisters, Verna, and Bertha Turner.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Thomas of Englewood; one son, John Thomas of Chattanooga; stepchildren; 4 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lennie Hale and Anna Patterson.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in the South Chapel with Layspeaker Bill Womac officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at Prospect Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 4th for the committal service.
