Wilma Thomas, 82, of Benton, TN passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

Wilma was an active member of Hiwassee Union Baptist Church and helped her husband in the ministry for 54 years.   She spent 20 plus years as an assistant teacher at Benton Elementary School. In her spare time, she loved being outdoors in her garden, she was blessed with a green thumb.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Martha Lewis; sister, Margaret Millsaps.

Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years,  Benny Thomas; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Karen Thomas of Spartanburg SC; daughter and son in-law, Devonda and Tim Firestone of Calhoun TN, daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Zack Campbell of Sweetwater, TN; grandchildren and spouses, Ashley and Fred Willams, Matthew and Caroline Thomas, Phillip and Brittney Firestone, Allison and Allen Currington, Garrett Campbell; great-grandchildren, Holsten Williams, Aven Williams, Hardin Willams, Owen Firestone, Reed Firestone, Jack Firestone, Mandy Currington and Olivia Currington; sister, Annette Stakely; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2023, in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Smith and Rev. Ryan Potts officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2023, prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble Friday, November 10th at Benton Memorial Gardens for the 10:00 a.m. committal service.

Tim Firestone, Zack Campbell, Phillip Firestone, Matthew Thomas, Fred Williams, Allen Currington and Garrett Campbell will serve as pallbearers. Holsten Williams, Owen Firestone, Aven Williams, Reed Firestone, Mandy Currington, Olivia Currington, Hardin Williams and Jack Firestone will serve as honorary pallbearers.
