Zane Gibson, born on October 1, 1970, passed away at his residence on Monday, March 23, 2026 at the age of 55. Known for his sharp wit and generous spirit, Zane brought laughter and joy to all who knew him. He was a beloved member of the New Zion Baptist Church and held deeply to his Baptist faith throughout his life.
Zane’s humor was infectious; he delighted in making people laugh and was known for his playful pranks, often endearing himself with the phrase, "You got $5 dollars." Beyond his joyful nature, he had a profound love for the outdoors. He cherished moments spent in the mountains and found great pleasure in fishing. His affection for animals was heartfelt and unwavering.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Julia Gibson, who stood by him through every chapter of his journey. Also his children, Bradford Atkins and his wife Cristy, Kayla Bradford, and Martin Evans and his wife, Alex; seven grandchildren; parents, Lucky and Joy Gibson; brothers and sister-in-law, Fabian Gibson and Jimmie Lou, and Jason Gibson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly Coleman and Mike, Sunday Lee Clay and David, and Robin Clay and Bobby. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him, holding cherished memories of their uncle’s kindness and humor.
Zane was preceded in death by his grandson, Neyland Evans.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with his son, Rev. Bradford Atkins officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday prior to the service.
Interment will follow the service in Goodsprings Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the funeral home to cover funeral expenses.
