Obituary

Zella Mae "Curley" Liner Patton, 95, of Englewood, died early Monday morning, Feb. 15, 2010, at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home in Etowah. A native of McMinn County and former resident of Texas, Arkansas and Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Larkin and Rossie Gay Casteel. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Englewood, and was "Mother" to all her nieces, nephews and others. She was a fashion designer of exotic hats. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Liner; her second husband, O.K. Patton; one sister, Ruth Burger; and two brothers, J.M. Casteel and Leonard Casteel. Survivors include four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sarah "Tinker" and Wayne Martin of Englewood, Marie Bridges of Englewood, Vivian and Paul McConnell of Cleveland, and Alice and Lewis Partain of Athens; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Sherman and Cat Casteel of Madisonville, Robert Casteel of Athens, and Kenneth Casteel of Englewood; one sister-in-law, Alma Webb of Englewood; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18th in the South Chapel with the Rev. Russ Maples and the Rev. Jerry Shirk officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at McMinn Memory Gardens at 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 19th for the committal service. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 13 Church St., Englewood, TN 37329.
